‘Bold Strokes’, the Art Workshop, provides you with an opportunity to learn the principles of Visual Art, without smothering your underlying artistic vision. True artistic freedom comes when you are able to express yourself on a two dimensional surface. We only help you reach there using the principles of design, technique and visual language; till you develop your own distinctive style-both bold and exuding with your personality. Then the world becomes your canvas and you can do with it as you please!
We have to realise mood versus detail through application. Another area to consider is value and edge control. Developing our own personal style and version is important, be it in bold, solid, traditional form or on the other hand, abstract, less finite, ambiguous, nevertheless captivating.
Colour harmony in a painting is of absolute importance in Art Appreciation. We impart knowledge on the colour theory, perspective, composition, value pattern, technical skills, colour temperature changes, edge control and atmospheric perspective.
You can learn to paint your subject with an emphasis on capturing the light. A small bit of light can illuminate all the subtle possibilities-from light to dark images, capturing different qualities of light in different weather conditions.
‘Notan’ is the Japanese art which deals with dark and light harmony, when black and white are harmoniously arranged; the shadow effect is felt here too.

Every painting has a strong compositional statement to it. We work with and understand the following Art Forms:
1) Realism and Portraiture ( Live and Figurative Representation)
Portraits done in Oil, drawing, colour mixing, and has value and edges and the advantage of working on different poses.
2) Still Life Painting
This sort of painting possesses more often than not, luminosity, depth, beauty of the object translated into lustrous print, brilliant light, supple colour, purposeful edge variation, creating a compelling and distinguished ‘piece de art’.
3) Dynamic Abstracts:
The advantages Abstracts have over other paintings are that they are done by developing powerful and exciting designs. This involves the mind-creativity connection. They can be inspired by photographs or reality, yet have an inner glow and energy of their own. They explore spatial relationships and are generated by colour contrast and textures. They are ambiguous-with no finite pattern and can be interpreted differently each time!
4) Landscapes, Cityscapes, Townscapes:
Beautiful landscapes can be the visual stimulation one needs to begin a series of paintings on the pristine splendors of nature.
5) Plein Air Paintings –painting outdoors-in the atmospheric surroundings. This is very popular in Europe and America. Scenic beauty provides the surroundings for
these paintings.

We use the following Media:
Classical Oil, Acrylic, Water Colours, Charcoals, Sketches /Drawing, Collages and
Mixed Media.
Mixed Media could be a combination of Acrylic, Oil in Collage form –a textural surface is developed for all kinds of subject matter, emphasizing self expression.

We focus on:
Colour Harmony, Colour Composition, Value patterns, Perspectives, Edge Control

We work with the following techniques:
Brushes & Palette knife, Encrustations (in Mixed Media),Brush Strokes & Texturisation.

At Art Connect we work in the open air with Established Artists who will give
Demonstrations and personally guide you. You have an opportunity to manipulate colour, quality, lighting and illusion for dynamic depth without muddy colours or overworking. There will be specific exercises, presentations, individual critique sessions, break-time discussions and group critique sessions.,
