The Art Connect Initiative:
Art Connect is the first of its kind initiative in Bangalore, which aims at establishing a connect between different art forms, namely, art as in painting/sketching, art as in writing
and art as in theatre. Workshops will be conducted under the Banners of ‘Bold Strokes’, ‘Word Surge’ and ‘Stage Art’.
In addition there will be Exhibitions, Literary Readings, Art & Inter-Art Appreciation Events, Discussions and Lectures by people renowned in these fields, Book Reading and
Book Appreciation Sessions, Meets with representatives from Publishing Houses etc.
Set in a traditional Kerala House spread over half an acre of land, in the heart of Whitefield, Bangalore, Art Connect provides a surreal atmosphere for learning and interaction.
The Vision Statement:
Art Connect strives to bring together professional artists, accomplished writers and well known theatre personalities to help aspiring artists exhibit their latent artistic talents, aspiring writers remove their writers block and theatre aspirants unleash their natural performing abilities. It provides them with ample opportunity to interact with and showcase their creative abilities to people proficient enough to guide them to reach their true potential.
The Power of the Senses
At Art Connect, we believe that all Art forms no matter their differences, share one holistic link; they stimulate our senses and thereby enrich our being. When a child paints
with his hands, his sense of touch, smell and sight are used and every bit of happiness he attains from this indulgence is offset by this sensory stimulation. He is therefore not only capable of creating his work of art, he is capable of appreciating his creation.
Have you ever wondered why the kind of exhilaration one feels while viewing the piece de resistance from an artists collection, a mesmerizing dance performance, attending an
enthralling jazz concert or reading an enrapturing book is quite similar?
This is because the brain transforms the emotions felt from such events into a pleasurable sensation which spreads through the entire being and fills it with a warmth akin to none other.
Now imagine the joy you feel when the first drops of rain fall on your face, the smell of freshly soaked earth, the touch of a feather against your cheek, the pristine beauty of nature around us with its open green fields, rustling trees, trickling waters and birds flying in the sky.
All our senses are intrigued and we feel an exhilaration which is so deep-we feel the compelling urge to express ourselves. We are inspired. Words surge forth and we find soulful expression in sketches, painting, writing and singing. All feelings, every feeling finds expression in word, art, theatre. We are charged. Energised.
